At GoHarder, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and web platform.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Email address, name, and password when you create an account
  • Profile Information: Age, gender, fitness goals, and physical measurements (optional)
  • Workout Data: Exercises performed, sets, reps, weights, and workout duration
  • Body Measurements: Weight, body measurements, and progress photos (if you choose to add them)
  • Communications: Messages with trainers, feedback, and support requests
  • Phone Number (optional): If you add it so friends can find you, we store only a protected (hashed) form of it, never the number itself. See section 6
  • Contacts (optional): If you allow access, the phone numbers in your contacts are hashed on your device and used only to find friends already on GoHarder. See section 6

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers
  • Usage Data: App features used, session duration, and interaction patterns
  • Crash Reports: Technical information when the app encounters errors

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:
  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services
  • Track and display your workout progress and statistics
  • Personalize workout recommendations based on your goals
  • Enable trainer-athlete connections and program assignments
  • Send notifications about workouts, assignments, and updates
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the app experience
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Data Storage and Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Local Storage: Workout data is stored locally on your device using encrypted SQLite databases for offline access
  • Cloud Storage: Data is synced to Firebase Firestore with encryption in transit and at rest
  • Authentication: Secure authentication via Firebase Authentication with password hashing
  • Transport Security: All data transmission uses TLS/SSL encryption

4. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell your personal information. We only share data in these circumstances:

  • With Your Trainer: If you connect with a trainer, they can view your workout data, progress, and assigned programs
  • Service Providers: We use Firebase (Google) for authentication, database, and cloud functions
  • AI Provider: When you use the GoHarder Coach, your message and the relevant training data are sent to Anthropic (Claude) to generate the reply. Anthropic does not use this content to train their models
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (you will be notified)

5. GoHarder Coach (AI)

The GoHarder Coach is an AI assistant that answers questions about your training. To do that, it reads the workouts, exercises and body metrics you have logged in the app.

  • What is processed: The message you send, a short history of the conversation, and the training data needed to answer it are sent to Anthropic (Claude) to generate a reply
  • Conversation history: Your chat is stored on your device. You can delete it at any time with "Clear conversation" in the coach screen
  • Product improvement: We retain the questions asked of the coach, together with your account identifier and the app language, to understand how the feature is used and improve it. We do not use them for advertising and we do not sell them
  • Screenshot imports: Images you send to create a routine are processed to extract the exercises and are not stored after the routine is created
  • Your control: You can request deletion of your coach data at any time by contacting us; deleting your account removes it along with the rest of your data

The coach is a training assistant, not a medical professional. It does not provide medical advice, and you should consult a qualified professional for health concerns.

6. Finding Friends (Phone Number and Contacts)

Finding friends is optional. You can use GoHarder without adding a phone number or giving access to your contacts.

  • Your phone number: If you add your number so people who know you can find you, your device converts it into a one-way hash before sending it, and our servers protect that hash again with a secret key before storing it. We store that protected value and your country code, never the number itself. The number is not verified or shown to anyone. You can remove it at any time in Settings
  • Your contacts: If you allow access, the app reads only the phone numbers in your contacts (not names, emails, or photos). Each number is converted into a one-way hash on your device, and only those hashes are sent to find which of your contacts already use GoHarder. We do not store the hashes you send, and we never receive the names or numbers in your address book
  • What results show: Matches show only a person's public GoHarder profile (username, name, and photo). We never reveal a phone number, or which of your contacts matched. People you have blocked, or who have blocked you, are never shown
  • Who can find you: Only people who have your number saved in their contacts and use this feature can find you by it
  • Limits: Contact matching can be used a limited number of times per day to prevent misuse
  • Deletion: Removing your number in Settings, or deleting your account, deletes the stored value. You can turn off contacts access at any time in your device settings

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights under GDPR, CCPA, or other privacy laws:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data ("Right to be Forgotten")
  • Portability: Request your data in a portable format
  • Opt-out: Opt out of analytics and marketing communications
  • Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for optional data processing

8. Data Retention

  • Active Accounts: We retain your data for as long as your account is active
  • Deleted Accounts: Data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
  • Anonymous Analytics: Aggregated, non-identifiable data may be retained indefinitely
  • Legal Requirements: Some data may be retained longer if required by law

9. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for users under 13 years of age (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@goharderapp.com.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We use Firebase (Google Cloud), which complies with GDPR through Standard Contractual Clauses and other mechanisms.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

  • Posting the updated policy in the app and on our website
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top
  • Sending a notification for material changes
